Principal Engineer – Water Resources

About the role

As a Principal Water Resources Engineer you will lead consultancy and technical services for a diverse portfolio of projects across Australia and internationally, delivering innovative water management solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and full project management, including client relationships and financial oversight.
• Lead business development activities to grow revenue and shape the strategic direction of the Water Resources team.
• Conduct risk assessments and deliver feasible solutions for flood, water quality, and water balance challenges.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers to support their development and well‑being.

Required profile

• Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in water resources engineering within a consultancy.
• Relevant tertiary engineering degree (Civil, Environmental, Chemical) and CPEng (or willingness to obtain).
• Proven ability to build client relationships, develop business, and manage projects.
• Strong knowledge of Australian standards and regulatory requirements for civil design and water management.

Required skills

• Flood modelling (hydrologic and hydraulic).
• Water balance modelling.
• Surface water impact assessments and water quality assessment.
• Erosion and sediment control design.
