Graduate Engineer – Sustainability & Engineering (Feb 2027)

About the role

Join SMEC’s two‑year Graduate Development Program as a Graduate Engineer focused on sustainability and engineering. You will work on major infrastructure projects across transport, energy and the built environment, gaining hands‑on experience while contributing to sustainability analysis and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of infrastructure projects by conducting sustainability assessments, reporting and preparing technical documentation.
• Assist in analysing environmental, social and sustainability outcomes, including carbon, energy and resource efficiency, under senior guidance.
• Participate in site visits and project activities to understand implementation of sustainability outcomes on live projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainability considerations into transport, energy and urban development projects.
• Learn and apply industry standards, digital tools and best practices through structured development and on‑the‑job experience.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related discipline.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proactive, adaptable mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
