Graduate Engineer – Structural

About the role

Robert Bird Group is seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer to join its Structural Engineering team in Melbourne. You will work alongside experienced engineers on high‑profile projects such as Australia 108, AAMI Stadium and major infrastructure works, gaining hands‑on experience in a collaborative, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and analysis of steel, reinforced concrete, timber, aluminium and other structural systems.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings and documentation in line with Australian Standards.
• Support senior engineers on complex, award‑winning projects, including tall buildings, stadiums and transport infrastructure.
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering workshops and sustainability assessments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering qualification with a strong academic record.
• 1‑2 years of structural engineering design experience.
• Exposure to steel or reinforced concrete design.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and pursuit of chartered status.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
