Graduate Chemist

About the role

SGS is looking for a Graduate Chemist to join its Natural Resources – Geochemistry team based at Perth Airport. The role is part of a structured training programme that rotates through all key areas of the Geochemistry division, including laboratory work and on‑site mine placements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform analytical tests according to established procedures, ensuring data integrity and quality.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as fire assay furnaces, XRF and ICP instruments safely and accurately.
• Support the laboratory Quality Management System and contribute to continuous improvement of analytical processes.
• Provide temporary cover or relocate to other sites as required.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Understanding of geochemistry processes and methods.
• Physically fit to undertake rotation tasks.
• Ability to meet site access requirements (training, induction, medical).

Required skills

• Sample preparation, fire assay, acid digestion.
• XRF analysis and ICP analysis.
• Laboratory instrumentation operation and troubleshooting.
• Adherence to QC requirements and contamination control.
