Grade 2 RPAS Instructor and Operational Pilot

About the role

Toll Uncrewed Systems (TUS), a specialist business within Toll Aviation, delivers drone training, operational services and aviation advisory solutions across Australia. It is looking for a Grade 2 Instructor and Operational Pilot based in Brendale, QLD, to manage, oversee, deploy and report on operations and training within the TUS division and its clients, working with the RPAS operations and training teams, the helicopter and fixed-wing operations and project work. The role is primarily onsite, with flexibility for emergency call-outs, night or weekend operations and travel.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality RPAS training and assessment to corporate clients, emergency services and government agencies.
• Develop, refine and maintain training materials and courseware.
• Support operational uncrewed aviation missions, including night operations and emergency call-outs.
• Contribute to mission planning, documentation and the safe execution of all RPAS operations.
• Maintain professional client relationships and identify training and service solutions.
• Ensure compliance with CASA, ASQA, DASA and the organisation's ReOC requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years' experience in UAS/RPAS operations, including as a commercial RPAS pilot.
• Demonstrated experience delivering aviation, RPAS or technical training in an operational environment.
• Proven experience conducting complex RPAS missions such as BVLOS, infrastructure inspection, emergency services, surveillance, mapping or industrial operations.
• Experience developing and maintaining training curricula, competency frameworks, lesson plans, assessments and operational procedures.
• Ability to mentor and coach operational personnel to competency standards.
• Experience in a highly regulated environment and in operational planning, risk assessment and post-mission review.
• Must be entitled to work in Australia and ready for pre-employment checks including a criminal history check and medical.

Required skills

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or CASA Flight Instructor Rating (highly desirable).
• CASA Multi-Rotor RePL Sub-25kg (150kg type endorsements highly desirable), CASA VTOL Sub-25kg, EVLOS Class 1 and 2, and BVLOS experience.
• CASA IREX or CASA-approved RPAS equivalent (highly desirable).
• AROC and night RPAS operational experience.
• Advanced First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain within 4 weeks).
• Open driver's licence; manual and 4x4 experience desirable.
