Global Trade Operations Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Global Trade Director, the Global Trade Operations Manager leads the Global Trade Operations team to deliver specialist global trade advice and support to operational activities and growth opportunities. The role supports Australia's defence mission and works within a fast-moving company on complex engineering programs. It is a hybrid position based in Cannon Hill, Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Global Trade Operations team, supporting the operational plan and ensuring timely achievement of goals and objectives.
• Identify and implement improvements to team performance and productivity.
• Develop and manage policy and process improvements, system improvements and better use of technology.
• Drive resource and personnel management, including career roadmaps, competency frameworks, learning and development plans, mentoring, budget planning and general management.
• Deliver initiatives on schedule, within budget and with the right resources.
• Align the team's objectives, policies and practices with stakeholder and business requirements.
• Design, establish and monitor performance metrics, prepare reports and facilitate lessons learned.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, law or a related discipline is desirable but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience managing a dispersed team.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance as needed.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of global trade laws and regulations, including U.S. FMS, ITAR, EAR and the Australian Defence Trade Controls Act, export licensing and compliance best practices.
• Well-developed interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
• Ability to plan and execute compliance-related work, with strong time management and prioritisation.
