Geriatrics Registrar Trainee (2027 Intake)

About the role

This position provides high‑quality clinical care to older adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, geriatric syndromes, and frailty. You will work under the supervision of a Geriatric Medicine Specialist within a multidisciplinary team, across hospital and community settings, and contribute to teaching junior doctors and medical students.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive clinical services to older patients in acute and chronic care settings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Provide supervision and education to junior doctors, medical students, and other health staff.
• Rotate across participating hospitals in the Western Australian Inter‑Hospital Rotating Scheme.
• Participate in clinical audits, research activities, and quality improvement projects as required.

Required profile

• Eligible for the 2027 Registrar intake in Geriatric Medicine.
• Currently completing RACP Basic Physician Training and sitting the clinical examination in 2026, or a dual trainee commencing Geriatric Medicine in 2027.
• Returning trainees with an interruption of more than 12 months who have previously started Geriatric Medicine training.
• Willingness to apply via MedCareersWA and meet the essential criteria set by WA Health.
