General Accountant

About the role

Munro Footwear Group is seeking a General Accountant to join its Finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will work closely with business stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end close activities, including journal entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with policies.
• Prepare year‑end statutory calculations, liaise with external auditors and respond to audit requests.
• Analyse month‑end results, provide commentary on variances versus budget and prior year.
• Support business transformation projects as the Finance Representative, assessing financial impacts of new processes.
• Contribute to enhancements of accounting systems, procedures and reporting processes.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in retail or multi‑site environments.
• Tertiary accounting qualification with CA or CPA accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting requirements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• High level of accuracy, analytical ability and strong stakeholder communication.
