Gambling Help Counsellor & Educator (Part‑time)

About the role

The Gambling Help Counsellor & Educator provides empathetic, non‑judgemental counselling to individuals, families and significant others affected by problem gambling. Working within UnitingCare Queensland’s Family and Disability Services, you will help clients address gambling issues, their impacts and underlying factors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑on‑one and family counselling sessions focused on gambling addiction.
• Develop and facilitate education and awareness programs for target groups and the wider community.
• Manage client cases with a focus on outcomes, data collection and practice improvement.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support for clients.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Counselling or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in a counselling environment, particularly with addiction or trauma.
• Experience in group facilitation and community education.
• Current Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

Required skills

• Therapeutic counselling techniques applicable to addiction and trauma.
• Case management and outcome‑focused documentation.
• Strength‑based intervention approaches.

What we offer

• Part‑time fixed‑term role (up to 24 August 2026) – 60.8 hours per fortnight.
