Fullstack Engineer – Frontend React/Node.js

About the role

Join Westpac’s Cash & Transactional Banking Technology team as a Frontend Engineer. You will work in a fast‑paced, agile environment, turning business vision into reality through major transformation programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Build and scale complex front‑end applications using React and Node.js.
• Design and develop responsive, user‑friendly interfaces that work across browsers and devices.
• Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into high‑quality, reusable React components.
• Optimise performance, minimise re‑renders and improve load times.
• Manage application state with Redux, Context API or similar libraries.
• Integrate and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
• Maintain and refactor existing codebases, ensuring high code quality through unit, integration and end‑to‑end testing.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, designers and other cross‑functional teams.
• Stay up‑to‑date with modern front‑end trends and recommend continuous improvements.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience building and scaling front‑end applications.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript (ES6+) and component architecture.
• Solid foundation in HTML, CSS and modern styling approaches (CSS Modules, PostCSS, CSS‑in‑JS).
• Experience with state‑management solutions such as Redux or Context API.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Experience writing tests with Jest, React Testing Library or Cypress.
• Background in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Interest in AI‑assisted development tools.
