Fullstack Developer – Remote Contract (Vue, Firebase, GCP)

About the role

We are seeking a Fullstack Developer to help build and maintain the technology platform that powers the Great Barrier Reef citizen science program. This 6‑month remote contract will involve delivering end‑to‑end features for a Vue + Firebase + GCP stack that visualises reef survey data and supports scientists and community users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship fullstack features from concept to production.
• Implement interactive Mapbox maps that display geospatial reef data.
• Write backend Cloud Functions and integrate with Firestore, Auth, and other GCP services.
• Improve user experience for both scientific and citizen‑science audiences.
• Own tickets through the entire lifecycle, write automated tests, and deploy via CI/CD pipelines.
• Leverage Claude Code and AI‑augmented tools in daily development workflow.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of fullstack web development experience delivering production applications.
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency and solid web fundamentals.
• Experience with Vue (preferred) or React/Nuxt.
• Working knowledge of Firebase (Firestore, Auth, Cloud Functions) and Google Cloud Platform.
• Habit of writing tests and shipping safely through CI/CD.
• Clear written communication in English.
