Full-Time Cook - Aged Care

About the role

Estia Health, an aged care provider with 96 homes across Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria, is looking for a Cook in Hervey Bay. You will help create a home residents love by delivering service standards of the highest level and preparing fresh, wholesome meals tailored to individual needs.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside the Chef to assist with kitchen management.
• Tailor meals to individual needs and preferences, and prepare healthy, nutritious meals.
• Document recipes with dietitian input for menu dishes and special dietary requirements such as diabetes, high/low fibre and high/low protein.
• In consultation with the RN/PC in charge, maintain a record of residents' needs, preferences and assistive devices and ensure they are provided each meal.
• Manage the catering service, including human resources and ordering supplies, so that adequate supplies are available according to the menu and budget.
• Prepare, cook, serve and deliver meals according to the menu and Food Safety Plan requirements.
• Report food service concerns to the manager and resident concerns to the RN/PC in charge or Director of Nursing/Care Manager.
• Plan menus in consultation with residents, the Dietitian, RN/PC in charge, Diversional Therapist and Director of Nursing, covering nutrition, hydration, cultural and spiritual needs and special occasions.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• At least 12 months of experience in Aged Care, with a broad range of cuisines and dietary requirements.
• Some experience in a commercial kitchen (aged care highly regarded).
• Great communication and documentation skills.
• Availability to work full time (76 hours per fortnight): weekdays 22.5 hours, Saturdays 7.5 hours plus shift loading, Sundays 7.5 hours plus shift loading.
