Forensic Laboratory Technician – Queensland

About the role

Join the Forensic Chemistry division of Forensic and Scientific Services Queensland as a Laboratory Technician. This temporary full‑time position (until 20 December 2026) offers the opportunity to contribute to high‑quality forensic analyses in a modern, collaborative laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare reagents and samples for forensic testing.
• Perform high‑throughput analytical techniques while ensuring reliability and consistency.
• Operate and maintain state‑of‑the‑art instruments such as GC‑MS, FTIR, UPLC and UPLC‑MS/MS.
• Support the delivery of analytical services in compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, both supervised and unsupervised.

Required profile

• Relevant Certificate, Associate Diploma, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Science with a major emphasis in Chemistry.
• Proof of qualification provided before commencing laboratory duties.
• Vaccinated against Hepatitis B (or willing to be vaccinated).
• Eligibility to work in Australia and a valid visa for temporary employment if required.
• Successful completion of a criminal history check.
