Food Safety & Quality Assurance Officer

About the role

JBS Townsville is seeking an experienced Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Officer to join its team on a full‑time basis. Reporting to the QA Manager, you will ensure that product, hygiene and food‑safety standards are consistently met across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on food safety and product quality, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
• Conduct daily checks of hygiene practices in production, amenities and the render department.
• Liaise with management, production supervisors and regulatory bodies such as AQIS to address any non‑conformances.
• Participate in internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a FSQA or QA role within the meat industry (advantageous).
• Completion of AUS‑Meat competency levels and any other statutory qualifications.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and basic supervisory abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Attention to detail and excellent prioritisation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations.
