Financial Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Controller to build and lead Fabulate’s finance function as we scale across Australia, South East Asia and the US. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the CFO, you will design, implement and automate the systems, workflows and reporting that support rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end month‑end close, including journals, reconciliations, accruals, revenue recognition and balance‑sheet integrity.
• Manage BAS, IAS, FBT, payroll tax and superannuation compliance and coordinate year‑end audit and tax with external advisors.
• Lead the full billing and receivables cycle, streamline high‑volume client invoicing and improve DSO.
• Maintain and enhance Xero integration with the Fabulate platform and banking stack, driving automation and AI‑enabled tools.
• Develop and maintain a live finance dashboard for weekly leadership reviews.
• Direct the international finance operations team, build documented workflows and support cash forecasting and board reporting.

Required profile

• CA/CPA qualified with 7+ years of experience, including a senior finance role in a high‑volume transactional business (media, marketplace, SaaS or agency).
• Hands‑on operator who builds processes before automating them.
• Proven track record of reducing month‑end close time and improving DSO.
• Comfortable in a fast‑moving, founder‑led environment with shifting priorities.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in Xero and finance system integrations.
• Strong automation mindset, experience implementing AI or workflow automation tools.
