Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will join the finance leadership team of a well‑established Australian business operating in a capital‑intensive, project‑based environment. Reporting to the CFO, this hands‑on role oversees financial management across a complex corporate structure and supports executive decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation of management reports, project and construction accounting, and annual consolidated financial statements.
• Manage statutory reporting requirements and coordinate external audit processes.
• Oversee finance, payroll and business systems, identifying process‑improvement opportunities.
• Provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership and support long‑term business planning.
• Handle taxation compliance, including income tax, BAS, FBT and payroll tax, and liaise with external advisers.
• Build and maintain relationships with executives, board members, investors, financiers and auditors.

Required profile

• Significant experience in financial accounting and reporting within a complex, consolidated group structure.
• Proven ability to lead a finance team and manage multiple stakeholder reporting frameworks.
• Strong commercial focus with a track record of driving operational excellence.
