Financial Accountant – Maternity Leave Cover (6‑12 month contract)

About the role

Divas Beverages Australia is seeking a motivated Financial Accountant to provide maternity‑leave cover for a 6‑12 month period. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will own core accounting functions while supporting budgeting, forecasting and commercial reporting across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including receipt reconciliation and revenue recording.
• Prepare weekly payroll, conduct variance checks and distribute payslips.
• Execute balance‑sheet reconciliations, journal entries and financial analysis.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Reconcile asset accounts between the accounting system and inventory system.
• Prepare payroll tax, BAS and PAYG obligations.
• Maintain statutory records and produce monthly management reports.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Perform variance analysis and provide commentary to senior stakeholders.
• Identify and implement improvements to reporting, systems and finance processes.
• Coach and oversee the workload of one Accounts Officer.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong technical accounting capability with solid month‑end and reconciliation skills.
• Good knowledge of payroll, general ledger and financial reporting processes.
• Systems‑savvy mindset with a focus on continuous improvement; experience with Vinsight is a plus.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• CA/CPA qualification or near completion.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
