Financial Accountant

About the role

WEX, a global leader in payments solutions, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its Melbourne team. The role offers hybrid working and the chance to contribute to global projects while ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple business lines.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments, lease and project accounting.
• Prepare and upload balance‑sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness and compliance with US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
• Support statutory reporting, audit queries, regulatory compliance, and finance control requirements.
• Manage intercompany, treasury, fixed‑asset, accounts payable/receivable, and cash‑management processes as needed.
• Partner with Finance, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Operations, IT, Procurement and external auditors.
• Contribute to process improvement, documentation, system enhancements and the use of automation/AI tools.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of month‑end close and financial reporting principles.
• Ability to analyse, reconcile and resolve balance‑sheet items promptly.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders across finance and operations.
• Commitment to accuracy, compliance and continuous improvement.
