Financial Accountant – Finance, Tax, Inventory & Reporting

About the role

This permanent full‑time position sits within a nationally recognised wholesale and product distribution organisation. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will combine financial reporting, tax compliance, inventory accounting and business partnering while working closely with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Process journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Manage GST, BAS and other indirect tax compliance.
• Assist with monthly and management reporting packs.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
• Provide financial analysis to aid business decisions.
• Oversee accounts payable and related reconciliations.
• Process and reconcile inventory transactions, including goods received.
• Assist with stocktakes, inventory reporting and stock analysis.
• Support external audit and compliance activities.
• Identify and implement finance process improvements.
• Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate financial and inventory data.
• Produce daily sales reporting and weekly sales/back‑order reports.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified, or actively working towards qualification.
• Previous experience as a Financial Accountant.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations and month‑end processes.
• Experience managing GST, BAS and other tax requirements.
• Exposure to inventory accounting in a product‑based environment.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
