Field Service Engineer - Diagnostics Instruments

About the role

Roche is hiring a Field Service Engineer in North Ryde to provide field service for Core Lab, Molecular Diagnostics, Tissue Diagnostics and Sequencing instruments. The role covers instrument troubleshooting, installation, preventative maintenance, and software and hardware modifications, for pre- and post-sales needs. Work is mainly with instruments in NSW, with occasional regional and interstate travel.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Account Management Teams and attend regular team meetings to report field activities, labour and travel through the CRM system.
• Carry out timely pre-installation inspections and installations of Roche and other analytical systems with the Regional Service Manager, Application Specialist and Senior Account Management Team.
• Ensure preventative maintenance follows manufacturer guidelines, notify the Regional Service Manager of overdue maintenance and communicate ongoing instrument issues.
• Manage spare parts and boot stock accuracy, identify training gaps and inform the Regional Manager.
• Comply with safety, health and environmental policies, Roche processes, the Code of Conduct and industry codes of practice.

Required profile

• Tertiary degree in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in field engineering or customer service in the medical devices industry; diagnostic industry background is a plus.
• Experience or expertise in hematology is a plus.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Full eligibility to live and work in Australia.

Required skills

• Experience with IT and middleware systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer empathy, interaction skills and a record of troubleshooting and resolution is an advantage.

Working conditions

• Typical hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
• Rotating on-call roster covering out-of-hours service from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. weekdays and 24 hours on weekends.
