Field Plant & Equipment Service Technician

About the role

Veolia is looking for a hands-on, technically capable Field Plant & Equipment Service Technician to support its industrial services team at the Portland Aluminium Smelter. The role is based on-site in Portland and is newly created, working closely with the operations team to keep plant and equipment safe, reliable and ready to perform.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain plant and equipment at the Portland Aluminium site while supporting the local Veolia branch.
• Ensure assets meet Veolia's safety, environmental and contractual requirements.
• Partner with the Operations team to keep equipment operating effectively and at full capability.
• Use Veolia's internal asset management system, VAMS.
• Coordinate deliveries of stock and materials.
• Work with the Planning and Scheduling team and external service providers to monitor and report on asset condition and integrity.
• Carry out routine inspections and follow up maintenance and servicing to minimise downtime.
• Manage the tools, equipment, resources and critical spare parts needed for ongoing operations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience or knowledge of mechanical or mobile equipment in an industrial setting.
• A current HR truck licence.
• Sound understanding of safety and environmental compliance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a customer-focused approach and a strong commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
• Technical or trade qualifications are desirable.
