Fashion Design Intern

About the role

An established and growing fashion business in Docklands, Melbourne, is looking for a creative, motivated and detail-oriented Fashion Design Intern. The internship offers exposure to both the creative and commercial sides of fashion, working alongside experienced professionals on real projects from design development through to production and marketing. It is an internship with potential for ongoing employment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the development of new fashion designs and collections
• Research current fashion trends, colours, fabrics and market trends
• Create mood boards, design concepts and fashion presentations
• Support garment and product design development and refinement
• Help select fabrics, materials and trims
• Prepare sketches, design specifications and technical documentation
• Support sample development and review garments for fit, quality and design
• Assist with product development and supplier communication
• Help prepare fashion and marketing materials and collaborate with the wider team

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently graduated in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Textile Design or a related discipline
• Strong creative and visual skills and good understanding of fabrics, garments, colours and materials
• Attention to detail, clear communication and collaborative ability
• Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work independently

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or similar design software is highly regarded
