Facilities Manager – Lead Operations for World-Class Facility

About the role

Equans is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead integrated facility services across a large‑scale manufacturing site in Melbourne. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations in a highly regulated environment while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day delivery of all facility management services, including hard and soft services such as maintenance, cleaning, grounds, and pest control.
• Ensure critical infrastructure remains operational and compliant with GMP, GxP, Australian Standards and client requirements.
• Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities for HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building systems, managing CMMS (Maximo) and asset lifecycle planning.
• Develop and enforce SOPs, conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments to maintain a strong safety culture.
• Manage operational budgets, monitor costs and deliver projects within budget and timeline.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Services or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in facilities management leadership roles within highly regulated environments (manufacturing, biotech, pharma, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to manage large maintenance budgets and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Australian working rights and ability to pass a National Police Check.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of GMP and GxP compliance frameworks.
• Experience with CMMS platforms, preferably Maximo.
• Technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building systems.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards for facility management.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) are highly regarded.
