Estimating Manager – Residential Construction

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead our residential estimating function for a well‑established Brisbane builder. Reporting directly to senior management, you will own the accuracy of estimates, control project costs, and support successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a small estimating team.
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), material take‑offs and full project estimates using Databuild and Onsite Companion.
• Analyse preliminary plans, working drawings and specifications to produce reliable budgets and customer proposals.
• Monitor project costs against budgets and flag variances.
• Negotiate and maintain pricing agreements with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintain supplier/subcontractor records, ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Continuously improve estimating systems, databases and cost information.
• Collaborate closely with construction, operations and management teams to support project delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ estimating experience in residential construction.
• Strong knowledge of BOQs, take‑offs, budgeting and cost control.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
• Leadership experience or a clear ambition to step into a leadership role.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
