Equity Research Associate – Industrials

About the role

RBC is expanding its Australian Equity Research team and is seeking an Associate to support coverage of industrial companies across Australia. You will work alongside Lead Analysts, providing fundamental analysis, financial modelling and research support for institutional clients.

Key responsibilities

• Build and update detailed financial models in Excel, linking income statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow statements.
• Conduct earnings forecasts, valuation analyses (DCF, comparable multiples) and generate research reports and presentations.
• Maintain industry databases, monitor news and data sources, and respond promptly to client queries.
• Identify operational, ESG, macro and commodity‑related risks and develop contacts within the industry.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of full‑time experience in equity research, corporate finance, investment banking or a related field.
• Strong interest in equity markets and the ability to analyse industrial sectors.
• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to interact with senior company executives.
• High attention to detail, ability to work independently under pressure and flexibility to travel when required.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with FactSet or Bloomberg data platforms.
