Environmental Manager

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead compliance and sustainability initiatives on a major construction project in Brisbane. Reporting to the Project Director, you will develop, implement and maintain the Project Environmental Management Plan, ensuring all legislative and contractual environmental requirements are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and ongoing management of the project’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Ensure compliance with environmental approvals, licences, permits, contractual obligations and relevant legislation.
• Coordinate inspections, monitoring programmes, audits, testing and reporting activities.
• Manage environmental risks, incidents, non‑conformances and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
• Obtain and maintain required environmental approvals, including licence applications and early works permits.
• Develop and implement erosion and sediment control measures and other environmental initiatives.
• Liaise with authorities, clients, consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders to meet compliance obligations.
• Deliver environmental training, coaching and mentoring to project personnel and subcontractors.
• Support design and construction teams by identifying environmental requirements and practical solutions.
• Maintain environmental management system certification and provide regular performance reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental compliance and sustainability on construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals and permitting processes.
• Ability to manage risks, incidents and corrective actions effectively.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience delivering training and mentoring on environmental matters.
