Environmental Impact Assessment Lead – Relocation to Townsville

About the role

AECOM is seeking a senior environmental professional to lead high‑profile impact assessments and approval processes for energy, water and transport projects. The role combines ecological expertise with strategic approvals, supporting sustainable development and offering relocation assistance to Townsville.

Key responsibilities

• Lead environmental impact assessments and manage State and Commonwealth approval processes.
• Develop practical approval strategies that incorporate ecological values and biodiversity risk assessments.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee preparation of assessments, management plans and approval documentation.
• Provide strategic advice to clients while managing project scope, budgets, schedules and technical quality.
• Mentor team members and contribute to business development and proposal preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management or related field.
• Significant senior‑level environmental consulting experience, preferably as Principal or equivalent.
• Proven experience in ecology and biodiversity assessment with exposure to impact assessment or approvals.
• Knowledge of Commonwealth and Queensland environmental and planning approval frameworks.
• Strong leadership, communication and client‑relationship skills.
