Engineering Specialist – Systems/Electrical/Mechanical (Canberra)

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Specialist to join a dynamic team working on a major maritime defence project in Canberra. The role will influence systems, electrical and mechanical engineering requirements and support change management across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate systems integration activities with prime contractors.
• Oversee design integration and configuration control throughout design phases.
• Support transition of design elements to verification and validation (V&V) phases.
• Maintain strategic stakeholder relationships and review verification plans.
• Coordinate V&V, change data and perform detailed analysis.
• Collaborate with scheduling team to align V&V and change activities with the project schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture or Physics.
• Proven ability to assess tactical, operational and strategic issues in engineering change management and program development.
• Experience with platform and combat system verification and validation practices.
• Demonstrated engagement with Defence stakeholders (ADF, APS, contractors).
• Australian citizenship and current/reinstatable Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance.
