Engineering Specialist – Cost Estimating

About the role

The Engineering Specialist – Cost Estimating will support the development of accurate and reliable cost estimates for capital projects in the oil and gas sector. Based in Saudi Arabia, the role works closely with cross‑functional teams to align estimates with project scope, schedule and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and validate cost estimates at conceptual, preliminary and detailed design stages (Class 4 to Class 1).
• Analyze project scope, specifications and drawings to identify specialty items and ensure their inclusion in estimates.
• Gather and benchmark vendor quotations, material take‑offs and historical data to calculate direct and indirect costs.
• Develop material take‑offs (MTO) and labor man‑hour analyses.
• Present cost estimates to senior management and input data into the company cost database.
• Liaise with execution agencies and vendors to secure quotations and validate pricing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 18 years of cost estimating experience in oil & gas, energy or industrial projects.
• Proven experience preparing conceptual, preliminary and detailed design estimates.
• Strong knowledge of international estimating guidelines such as AACE International.
