Engineering Manager – Design (Mineral Processing)

About the role

Ausenco is seeking an Engineering Manager (Design Manager) to lead the engineering and design of mineral processing projects from concept through detailed delivery. Based in Newcastle, you will guide multidisciplinary teams and ensure technical excellence across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all engineering and design activities for mineral processing projects, including feasibility studies and detailed engineering.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, providing technical guidance, mentorship and ensuring project objectives are met.
• Take responsibility for technical approval and sign‑off of engineering deliverables.
• Collaborate with the Director of Engineering and functional managers to align technical solutions with schedule and budget targets.
• Work closely with clients to define scopes, develop customized solutions and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil/Structural or Electrical engineering.
• Extensive experience in industrial or mineral processing EPCM environments, with proven leadership in complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of mineral processing principles, technologies and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept to completion while maintaining safety and quality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder and client interaction.
