Emergency Medicine Coordinator – Katherine Hospital

About the role

The Emergency Medicine Coordinator will lead a high‑performing emergency team serving a vast, remote region of the Northern Territory. You will deliver acute, trauma, retrieval and tropical disease care while supporting Aboriginal health services and general practice under a single‑employer model.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency, acute and procedural medicine to a diverse patient population.
• Coordinate retrievals, trauma response and complex chronic case management.
• Supervise, teach and mentor junior doctors, registrars and medical students.
• Collaborate with Aboriginal Medical Service partners and mainstream general practice.
• Participate in clinical leadership, quality improvement and on‑call rosters.

Required profile

• Qualified medical practitioner with experience as a Rural Generalist, FACRRM, FACEM or Senior Medical Officer.
• Demonstrated ability to work in remote, multicultural environments.
• Commitment to a minimum of 5‑year fixed‑term appointment.
