Emergency Management Specialist - Barrow Island (FIFO)

About the role

Chevron Australia is looking for an HSE Specialist, Emergency Management to join the HSE team supporting Gorgon Operations. The role reports to the HSE Field Superintendent – Gorgon and is based on Barrow Island on a rotational 2x2 roster. It coordinates the execution of Emergency Management processes on site, giving leadership and expert advice to leaders, frontline teams and business partners while ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate Barrow Island emergency management on site, advising the person in charge and site leadership teams on activities across the island
• Coach and develop incident commanders and new Emergency Management Team members during drills and exercises, including during team activation
• Support major capital project handover to operations through commissioning and startup of Gorgon onshore and offshore developments
• Maintain the suite of emergency management plans required for Barrow Island activities
• Lead the emergency response contractor team and help the contract owner meet its requirements
• Liaise with the site-based lead medic so health and medical stay integrated into emergency response
• Oversee oil spill response capability development, coordinating with the Australian Emergency Management Specialist
• Work with emergency management peers in Australia and across Chevron global teams to standardise processes and share lessons learned
• Engage with the Global Emergency Management function

Required profile

• Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Emergency Management
• Experience executing emergency management processes in Australian Chevron operations or similar oil and gas facilities
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and competing priorities
• Communication, facilitation and influencing skills with internal stakeholders and business unit and enterprise partners
• Ability to foster cooperation and act as a role model for integrity and trust
