Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

DTC, a Codan company, is recruiting an Embedded Software Engineer in Adelaide to join its Engineering team and develop software for the next generation of tactical communications products. Working closely with Electronics, RF and Systems Engineers, you will build embedded software for real hardware products, from concept through to production, and help modernise the embedded software platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded software for advanced communications products
• Develop software for Embedded Linux and RTOS-based platforms
• Write robust, maintainable C and C++ code for embedded systems
• Debug software running on embedded hardware and support system integration
• Develop networking functionality and communications protocols for embedded devices
• Collaborate with Electronics, RF and Systems Engineers to deliver integrated product solutions
• Take part in design reviews, code reviews and technical investigations
• Support software verification, testing and continuous improvement
• Produce technical documentation and contribute to the evolution of embedded software platforms

Required profile

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics or a related discipline
• Experience developing embedded software for hardware products
• Strong C and C++ skills and experience with Embedded Linux, RTOS or both
• Comfortable debugging embedded software and a good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP
• Collaborative, takes ownership of work and enjoys working with hardware teams
