Electrical Project Manager - High-Rise Residential D&C

About the role

An established electrical contractor is looking for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join its growing Sydney team, delivering major high-rise residential Design & Construct (D&C) electrical projects. Projects are valued up to $20M, and the role suits someone who takes ownership of complex projects, coordinates design and construction and oversees delivery from initial design to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage high-rise residential D&C electrical projects from design development through to commissioning and handover
• Oversee delivery so that works meet programme, budget, quality and safety requirements
• Coordinate electrical design development, shop drawings, technical submissions and consultant approvals
• Work with Site Managers, foremen, engineers and subcontractors to manage construction activities
• Manage budgets, procurement, cost forecasting, variations and commercial reporting
• Coordinate electrical services with builders and other trades
• Build relationships with builders, developers, consultants and stakeholders
• Identify value engineering opportunities and implement cost-effective solutions
• Oversee testing, commissioning, defect management and final handover
• Ensure compliance with WHS requirements, Australian Standards and contractual obligations

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager on high-rise residential electrical construction projects
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale electrical packages, ideally up to $20M
• Experience delivering electrical installations across multi-storey residential developments, including apartments, common areas, basements and associated infrastructure
• Strong commercial acumen across budgets, forecasting, procurement, variations and contract administration
• Experience coordinating site teams, subcontractors, builders, consultants and other trades
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
• Electrical trade background or relevant engineering/project management qualifications preferred

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of Australian Electrical Standards, regulations and construction methodologies
• Strong technical understanding of LV distribution, main switchboards, metering, lighting, power, communications and associated services
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit or relevant project management software is advantageous
