Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

Verbrec is seeking two Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers to join its Brisbane team. You will work on oil & gas, mining and infrastructure utility projects, delivering design through to installation and commissioning while supporting the transition to renewable energy systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical and instrumentation designs, including LV/HV systems, cable sizing, PLC and Remote I/O panel wiring, protection systems, substations, motor controls and switchboards.
• Interpret and apply AS/NZS 3000:2018 standards and other relevant specifications throughout the design process.
• Model power systems and perform protection design using ETAP, Power CAD and Elek.
• Prepare and review electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, schematics and terminations.
• Produce technical documentation such as study reports, scopes of work, equipment specifications and datasheets.
• Support testing and commissioning activities (FAT, SAT) and provide onsite assistance to clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of electrical and instrumentation engineering experience.
• Experience in mining, infrastructure or utilities projects is preferred.
• Ability to self‑monitor progress, meet schedules and deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Willingness to work onsite to support client projects.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AS/NZS 3000:2018.
• LV and HV system design, cable sizing.
• PLC and Remote I/O panel wiring.
• Protection systems, substations, motor controls, switchboards.
• Power system modelling with ETAP, Power CAD, Elek.
• Testing and commissioning (FAT, SAT).
• Technical documentation preparation.
• Exposure to AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (preferred).
