Electrical Engineer – Primary Systems

About the role

Join UGL’s Utilities engineering team in Perth to design high‑voltage primary systems for substations, renewable assets and utility projects. You will work under senior engineers, collaborating across disciplines to deliver safe, efficient designs.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical design deliverables for primary systems, including plant layouts, busbars, clearances, earthing, HV cables, lightning protection and insulation coordination.
• Support design checking, ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate design interfaces with drafting personnel and other engineering disciplines to meet drawing and document delivery schedules.
• Provide engineering advice to construction, installation, tendering and operations teams and assist with inspection, test documentation and operation manuals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering meeting Engineers Australia member grade requirements.
• Minimum 3 years experience designing or maintaining high‑voltage power systems for large industrial plants.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
