Early Childhood Educator

About the role

Explore & Develop Freshwater is looking for a dedicated Early Childhood Educator/Teacher to join its longstanding team and support children through their early years. The centre adopts Circle of Security and PlaySpaces, creating a calm, inquiry-rich environment where children build life skills, confidence and a love of learning, including weekly beach walks and Learn to Swim sessions.

The centre is a Child Safe Organisation, so the safety, rights and wellbeing of children are paramount in every decision, from staffing to curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Create a calm, inquiry-based curriculum that nurtures each child's strengths, interests and questions
• Build a safe, hygienic, supportive environment with accurate records and sound policy and procedure
• Listen to and advocate for children's ideas, choices, rights, safety and wellbeing
• Work collaboratively with families to support each child's individual identity, valuing inclusion, diversity and cultural responsiveness
• Take part in 'Beyond the Gate' journeys and Learn to Swim sessions

Required profile

• Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care (or higher)
• Valid NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC)
• National Child Safe Training Certificate (GEKKO)
• Prohibited Persons Declaration completed
• Understanding of child protection and mandatory reporting obligations
• Personable, collaborative and professional, working well with children, families and colleagues
