Driving Instructor

About the role

NRMA is hiring a full-time, permanent driving instructor for its driving school, which won the 2026 Finder's Most Loved Driving School award. The role is based in Mosman and offers guaranteed 38 hours per week, with rosters provided in advance and focused on weekends and before and after school hours.

Key responsibilities

• Teach learners using the NRMA Driver Training Curriculum, tailoring lessons to each student.
• Develop skills to deliver the NSW Safer Drivers Course, become an Older Driver Assessor and act as an authorised trainer for the Corporate Driver Training program.
• Provide customer-focused instruction while promoting NRMA products through a needs-based approach.

Required profile

• Valid NSW Driving Instructor licence.
• Willingness to obtain TfNSW Safer Drivers Course (minimum module 2) accreditation.
• Willingness to obtain Older Driver Assessment qualifications when eligible (requires 3 years of driving instructor experience).
• Valid NSW Class C driver's licence and a valid Working with Children's Check.
• Ability to work a roster Monday to Sunday, 7am to 8pm.

• Exceptional customer service, empathy and patience.
• Strong communication across different demographics and driving confidence levels.
• Excellent understanding of NSW road rules and regulations.
• Effective diary management and flexibility to adapt to different learning styles.
• Desirable: facilitation skills, with willingness to complete Cert IV Training and Assessment during employment.
