Drill and Blast Engineer – Open Cut Mining

About the role

We are seeking a Drill and Blast Engineer to join our Collinsville open‑cut coal mine in Queensland. You will design and schedule drill‑and‑blast programmes, working closely with production teams to optimise safe and efficient blasting operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed drill and blast designs and schedules for the open‑cut operation.
• Plan and execute reactive ground, temperate logging, intrusion and through‑seam blasting activities.
• Collaborate with the Drill & Blast and Truck & Shovel production teams to implement plans.
• Utilise mine design and blasting software such as Vulcan and BlastLogic.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining, Civil or related engineering.
• Minimum two years’ experience in drill and blast design.
• Strong communication skills across all organisational levels.
• Self‑motivated, forward‑thinking leader committed to safety and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mine design and blasting packages (e.g., Vulcan, BlastLogic).
