District Medical Officer – Obstetrics & Anaesthetics (Non‑Procedural & Procedural)

About the role

Join the Carnarvon and Exmouth Regional Health Services as a District Medical Officer providing both non‑procedural and procedural services in obstetrics and anaesthetics. You will work across the Carnarvon and Exmouth health campuses and support remote community sites, delivering high‑quality medical care with clinical autonomy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical and community health services to patients in Carnarvon, Exmouth and surrounding remote communities.
• Maintain regular procedural practice in obstetrics and anaesthetics, including emergency deliveries and anaesthetic support.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and allied health clinicians.
• Collaborate with visiting specialists and coordinate referrals to larger hospitals when needed.
• Participate in outreach programs to remote sites such as Gascoyne Junction, Coral Bay, Burringurrah and Shark Bay.

Required profile

• Qualified medical practitioner with experience in obstetrics and/or anaesthetics.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with high clinical decision‑making responsibility.
• Willingness to serve in regional and remote settings, including occasional travel.
• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

• Salary range $481,620 – $602,976 per annum (inclusive of base, PD allowance and superannuation) under the WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024.
