Director of Finance, Oceania

About the role

The Director of Finance, Oceania provides strategic financial leadership for The Nature Conservancy’s Oceania region, covering Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. The role partners with business unit leads, finance and operations teams, and senior leadership to ensure financial sustainability and support conservation priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead regional finance strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and risk management.
• Serve as trusted advisor to senior leaders and Boards, ensuring effective resource stewardship and compliance with donor, statutory and internal policies.
• Promote consistency in financial practices across business units and provide direction to finance personnel throughout Oceania.
• Contribute to global finance initiatives that advance TNC’s mission and strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Significant experience in accounting, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis within a multi‑country, non‑profit environment.
• Proven ability to lead and develop geographically dispersed finance teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration and project‑management skills, with fluency in English.

• Non‑profit GAAP accounting and CPA certification (preferred).
• Experience with financial policies, regulatory compliance and internal controls.
