Director of Finance

About the role

The Director of Finance leads all financial operations for the Waldorf Astoria Sydney, acting as a strategic partner to hotel leadership. This senior position ensures compliance, drives profitability, and supports decision‑making with insightful analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial strategy, aligning operations with the hotel’s strategic goals to optimise profitability and efficiency.
• Direct financial planning and analysis, including annual budgets, forecasts and performance reporting.
• Advise hotel leadership and ownership with data‑driven recommendations to improve financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory requirements and internal controls, safeguarding assets.
• Monitor and approve all financial transactions such as sales, purchases, salaries and expenses.
• Lead, develop and retain a high‑performing finance team through performance management and professional development.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of hotel finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Professional accounting qualification preferred.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hotel systems (PEP, Birch St, Navision, Agilysys, etc.).
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
