Director Estate Services

About the role

The Director Estate Services leads the stewardship of Government House, its historic ballroom, outbuildings, utilities and infrastructure. Reporting to the CEO, this senior position ensures the estate remains a premier heritage site while supporting the Governor’s official functions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement works derived from the asset management and strategic maintenance plans for Government House, the ballroom and associated facilities.
• Oversee day‑to‑day security, emergency planning, contractor performance, site training and incident response.
• Develop and manage annual budgets and expenditure reviews in consultation with the CFO.
• Coordinate logistical requirements for official functions and events.
• Lead work health and safety initiatives and ensure WHS compliance of staff and contractors.
• Manage estate matters for the Governor, family and guests in a fast‑paced environment.
• Handle risk management for all estate activities.
• Provide specifications, engage and manage contractors for minor works projects.

Required profile

• Deep experience in facilities and estate management, preferably within heritage or government settings.
• Proven ability to operate at Executive Leadership level.
• Strong leadership skills to manage direct reports and a wider estate team.
• Excellent understanding of budgeting, risk management and WHS compliance.
