Director – Capital Advisory

About the role

A Director will lead capital advisory work at a specialist firm focused on the energy transition, winning and managing transactions, capital raises and investment advice across energy, resources and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead buy‑side and sell‑side M&A mandates, joint ventures and strategic partnerships from origination through to close.
• Structure debt and equity capital for projects and businesses, and run market outreach to funders, investors and commercial partners.
• Lead commercial due diligence and investment advice for acquirers, investors and boards.
• Oversee business cases, financial viability assessments and capital allocation advice for major projects.
• Advise on separations, integrations and synergy assessments after deals close.
• Win new work and build long‑term relationships with C‑suite, investors and government stakeholders.
• Grow the Melbourne capital advisory practice and lead, coach and develop teams of consultants and managers.
• Take quality ownership of client deliverables, including board and investment committee papers.

Required profile

• 12+ years in corporate finance, transaction advisory, investment banking or infrastructure and project finance.
• Track record of leading closed transactions or capital raises, ideally in energy, renewables, resources or infrastructure.
• Background from a Big Four deals team, mid‑market or boutique corporate advisory, investment banking, or corporate development at a developer, IPP or infrastructure investor.
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and deal structuring skills.
• Experience writing investment committee and board‑level material.
• Established network across investors, financiers or corporates in the transition economy.
• Degree in finance, commerce, economics or engineering; MBA or Master of Finance preferred; CA, CPA or CFA highly regarded.
