Direct Support Professional - Out of Home Care

About the role

Community Living & Respite Services is looking for a Direct Support Professional to support young people in out-of-home care in Echuca, Victoria. The role helps them develop skills, access enriching opportunities and achieve personal goals. It is a part-time position with about 79 hours over four weeks, split between weekday and weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living and support with and administer medication
• Help young people access their community and participate in leisure and recreation activities
• Support educational outcomes and maintain the home environment

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Children, Youth & Family Intervention, or a commitment to undertake it; alternatively a Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, Mental Health or Youth Work plus completion of the Residential Skills Set short course
• Victorian or NSW driver's licence
• Current Level 2 First Aid or willingness to obtain it
• Current Victorian Working with Children Check
• Three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or an exemption
• Willingness to complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Certificate, NDIS Worker Screening Check and a police check
• Ideally available for a minimum of 24 hours per fortnight

Required skills

• Experience supporting people who display behaviours of concern
• Understanding of positive behaviour support and person-centred active support
• Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services, or willingness to complete it within 12 months
