Dewatering Technician – Mine Services (FIFO)

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an experienced Dewatering Technician to join the Projects and Infrastructure team at the Tropicana Gold Mine. Working on an 8‑days‑on/6‑days‑off FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie, you will support the multidisciplinary Dewatering and Services team to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable water management across the mine.

Key responsibilities

• Install and remove in‑pit sump pumps daily as required for operations.
• Perform pipe welding, HDPE butt welding and electro‑fusion for dewatering and pump infrastructure.
• Fabricate, repair, and relocate polyethylene pipe of various sizes.
• Monitor and maintain dewatering systems, including dams, standpipes, diesel pumps, tanks, and in‑pit pumping stations.
• Conduct daily inspections, record keeping, and routine maintenance.
• Organise consumables and oversee contractor activities within the mining area.
• Liaise with stakeholders to optimise water flows and operate ancillary equipment.
• Enter and maintain relevant operational data and records.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in a related field (Fitter, Boilermaker, Mechanical, Plumber) or equivalent experience.
• Self‑starter with a strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience with mining dewatering and diesel pump equipment is preferred.
• Ability to work in a FIFO environment and adapt to changing site requirements.

Required skills

• Pipe welding (including HDPE butt welding and electro‑fusion).
• Installation and relocation of in‑pit sump pumps and dewatering infrastructure.
• Operation and maintenance of diesel‑powered pumps.
• Monitoring and maintenance of dewatering systems (dams, standpipes, tanks).
• Data entry and record‑keeping for water management activities.
