DevOps Engineer (Linux / VPS / Automation)

About the role

Join a founder‑owned startup building high‑reliability software for the medical sector. As a DevOps Engineer you will own the entire infrastructure stack—from bare‑metal servers to automated deployment pipelines—while working 100% remotely from anywhere on the East Coast of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimise a fleet of Linux (Debian) VPS and dedicated servers.
• Contribute to security hardening and performance tuning across all systems.
• Automate deployments, backups and monitoring using tools of your choice (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Bash, Python, Go).
• Occasionally work on backend code (TypeScript, optional Go) when it adds value.

Required profile

• Desire to run infrastructure end‑to‑end with full ownership.
• Fluent in Linux, VPS environments and automation scripting.
• Passion for making systems faster, safer and more reliable.
• Enjoy straightforward collaboration and candid debate within a tight, supportive team.

Required skills

• Linux (Debian) administration

• Basic knowledge of TypeScript (optional)
