DevOps Engineer

About the role
The DevOps Engineer will work closely with Service Desk, Engineering and Operations teams to automate repetitive tasks across L1‑L3 service delivery workflows. Reporting to the Tools and Automation Lead, you will design, build, deploy and support automation solutions that improve consistency, reliability and speed of delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Identify repetitive, manual and time‑intensive tasks across L1, L2 and L3 service delivery workflows.
- Collaborate with engineers and team leaders to understand processes and uncover automation opportunities.
- Maintain an automation backlog and prioritize work based on operational impact and efficiency gains.
- Design, develop and deploy automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash and relevant cloud or workflow platforms.
- Integrate automation with monitoring, ITSM, security, Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code practices (Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
- Ensure solutions are secure, maintainable, well documented and supportable long‑term.
- Provide knowledge transfer, documentation and adoption support to receiving teams.
- Monitor production automations and continuously improve based on feedback.
Required profile
- 1–2 years of experience in IT, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, software engineering or a related field, or a relevant degree with strong practical project experience.
- Experience working in a managed services, security operations or similar environment is advantageous.
- Ability to analyse operational workflows and translate requirements into reliable automation.
Required skills
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python, PowerShell or Bash.
- Experience with Git and source‑control workflows.
- Exposure to Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code technologies (Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
- Understanding of REST APIs and integration patterns.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure and security tooling environments.
- Awareness of AI‑assisted automation tools such as Copilot or Azure OpenAI is a plus.
