DevOps Engineer

About the role

Datacom is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join its high‑performance Operations team. You will design, build and maintain automated, highly available solutions for customer‑facing systems, working in an Agile environment with access to global technical specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Automate operating system deployment, configuration and security hardening.
• Install and configure application middleware platforms.
• Deploy workloads to VMware and VMware Cloud on AWS.
• Manage code deployment and platform lifecycle using CI/CD pipelines.
• Produce audit and compliance reports.
• Maintain platform high availability through reliable change and release processes.
• Engage with customers to design technical solutions.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and eligibility for NV1 security clearance.
• Experience working in hybrid teams (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
• Strong collaborative mindset within Agile, cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server.
• Configuration Management: Git, GitLab CI/CD, Puppet (including Bolt), Ansible, PowerShell DSC.
• Networking/Load Balancing: F5 BIG‑IP (APM), Infoblox DDI, HAProxy.
• Monitoring: Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana.
• Scripting/Automation: Bash, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, RESTful API development, VMware vRO, Rundeck.
• Software Packaging/Deployment: RPM, package management tools.
