DevOps Engineer / AWS SME

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned DevOps Engineer with deep AWS expertise to design, build, and operate robust CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure. The role involves supporting critical production workloads across Sydney and Brisbane, ensuring high availability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
• Implement blue‑green deployments, canary releases, and rolling updates.
• Manage containerized applications on Kubernetes/EKS with Helm charts and Kustomize.
• Coordinate release schedules, conduct deployment reviews, and follow change‑management processes.
• Provide 24/7 production support, incident response, and root‑cause analysis for AWS services.
• Monitor system health with New Relic APM, CloudWatch, and custom dashboards; create alerts and automated remediation.
• Perform capacity planning, cost optimisation, and resource right‑sizing.

Required profile

• Strong background in AWS services (EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, Route53, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, pod scheduling, service mesh, persistent volumes, and cluster autoscaling.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible).
• Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Experience with version control (Git) and security best practices.
